This article discusses how the playoffs function and the pros and cons of the best of seven rule. Teams that are matched up in the playoffs play a series of games that can go up to seven games: the first team to reach four wins will win the series and advance to the next round. The pro to this concept is that a team has a chance to come back and win the series even if they lose the first couple of games. A downside is that if a team has a formidable opponent but manages to win the first game, they would still have to play that team more times before they could actually move on in the playoffs. This ties in with the playoff seeding debate because of factors such as the division winner rule that could give a team a tougher first round matchup.

This article discusses how predictions could be made about playoff outcomes. A lot of factors play a part in the success of a team during the playoffs. Because of certain statistics, players, coaches, and others could make predictions of how their team or others will perform in the playoffs or how difficult a certain series could be to win. Often times, these predictions come to light. This could very well be a reason as to why people are pushing for a playoff seeding change in order to give teams more desirable match-ups.

< http://home.uchicago.edu/~jlist/papers/The%20Market%20for%20Charitable%20Giving.pdf > This article discusses the increase of charitable organizations and how the increase happened. The article mentions how much of the money that charitable organizations comes from donors and individuals. Many of these individuals come from the NBA. This is why the playoff seeding system is being debated so heavily because it could affect which charities or community entities receive help and by what degree. |
